The South African Department of Health have advised that PGD for gender selection is no longer available.
 
This means that recipients can no longer select the inidividual male or female sperm to influence the gender of the embryo.
 
Accordingly it is illegal to proceed with PGD for gender selection in South Africa.
 
PGD to check chromosomal aspects is still available and can continue if a fertility clinic offers this facility.
