Helping others and making a difference is what life is all about. When I first signed up to be a donor I didn’t realise the impact it would have on my life.
When I received the phone call that a couple choose me as their donor I was excited, but to me it was just an egg or two, something my body gets rid of monthly anyway.
I know how much I wanted to have a family of my own, and even though some days they drive me nuts, my kids are my everything. They are what every mom lives for - The reason we get up every day, the reason a mom keeps on going even when she has nothing left within. The reason she smiles when she feels like crying. The reason she can face anything life throws at her, keeping her held high and always staying strong. There truly is no better feeling than being a mom.
All of this I took for granted for so many years.
Then I started dealing with the psychologist and all the doctors, and only then I realised what some couples go through trying to start a family. Only once I saw what some woman deal with to become a mom, only then did I begin to comprehend that to this couple my “just an egg or two” meant life, it meant a family, it meant the hope of their biggest desire coming true.
Even though injecting yourself daily doesn’t sound like much and I pretty much thought I was back in labour the day before the procedure, I would do this over and over and over again, knowing that a simple act can change someone’s life forever.
Knowing that someone out there might have warm cuddles every night, butterfly kisses in the morning and tons of love for the rest of their lives made this the most rewarding deed that I have ever done.
So I encourage each and every woman out there that is able to donate, register today. You won’t regret it!
